Hungarian Competition Authority
The Hungarian Competition Authority action may be initiated for infringement of the prohibition of unfair commercial practices against consumers, provided that the commercial practice in question is capable of substantially affecting economic competition. In other cases, the consumer protection authority is competent to investigate unfair commercial practices against consumers.

Hungarian National Bank and the Financial Arbitration Board
Consumers may apply to the Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank , MNB) in case of violation of financial consumer protection provisions, in particular when their complaint has not been answered by the financial service provider or has not been handled within the time limit or in the manner prescribed by law. The MNB does not have the competence to settle individual contractual disputes; out-of-court settlement of such cases can be initiated before the Financial Arbitration Board (Pénzügyi Békéltető Testület, PBT) operating alongside the MNB.

Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority
The Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Office (Magyar Energetikai és Közmű-szabályozási Hivatal, MEKH) acts in cases related to the supply of natural gas, electricity, heating and water, in particular in the event of consumer complaints about breach of contract or irregular purchase. In other types of cases, such as residential billing, invoicing, metering or incorrect metering of residential users, the consumer protection authorities have the competence to investigate the complaint.

National Media and Infocommunications Authority
The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság, NMHH) provides assistance in cases related to telephone and internet services, press products, postal services, television and radio broadcasting, for example, when a problem related to the quality of a communications service (e.g. slow internet) or the loss of access to it (e.g. no telephone line) has not been addressed by the service provider at all or not in accordance with the law. It also deals with customer services provided by the electronic communications service provider and with subscriber complaints.
The NMHH cannot rule on disputes concerning the performance of the contract (for example, the rate of the subscription fee), as such matters fall within the jurisdiction of the courts.

National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy
The National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy (Nemzeti Népegészségügyi és Gyógyszerészeti Központ, NNGYK) is responsible for public health, epidemiology, health development, health administration and coordination, and labour health. Supervisory Authority for Regulatory Affairs of Hungary
The Supervisory Authority for Regulatory Affairs of Hungary (Szabályozott Tevékenységek Felügyeleti Hatósága, SZTFH) monitors the retail sale of tobacco products. It is responsible for enforcing the provisions relating to the special protection of minors, including the ban on the marketing of tobacco products to persons under the age of 18, and for imposing fines in the event of infringements.
