Redemption fee

The detailed rules of the redemption fee system are set out in Government Decree 450/2023 (X. 4.) on the detailed rules for the establishment and application of the redemption fee and the distribution of products subject to the redemption fee (hereinafter: Government Decree).

Pursuant to the Government Decree, the consumer protection authority has the power to act in the case of the following infringements if the infringement concerns a consumer within the meaning of Article 2(10) of Act CLV of 1997 on Consumer Protection:

• the marking of products with a redemption fee,

• the return of goods from the consumer, and

• in the event of infringement of the provisions on the supply of information to the consumer.
