Illegal fruit and vegetable traders caught during joint raid by police and NATCP

The police and the National Authority for Trade and Consumer Protection (NATCP) have launched a joint raid to crack down on the illegal trade of fruit and vegetables. During the operation, Hungarian and foreign citizens engaged in illegal trade were caught selling products without a license, most of which were unlabeled. Authority staff inspected a total of 2,600 kilograms of goods, and both the NATCP and the police initiated official proceedings within their respective jurisdictions due to the irregularities uncovered.

The NATCP and the XXIII District Police Department conducted a joint inspection in the parking lot of the Decathlon store in District XXIII. During the operation, eight Romanian and one Hungarian citizens engaged in illegal fruit and vegetable trade were investigated.

The vendors did not have a license to sell, so their activities were considered illegal. The products inspected by the NATCP included blueberries, apricots, peaches, and cherries. Although the quality of the products complied with European Union regulations, most of the goods were unlabeled, did not have receipts, or the receipts presented were incomplete.

NATCP staff inspected a total of 2,600 kilograms of goods, and those involved can expect severe penalties for the irregularities. At the same time, the police are also taking the necessary legal steps.

The NATCP and the police continue to prioritize the fight against illegal trade, consumer protection, and ensuring fair market conditions. At the same time, we ask consumers not to buy vegetables, fruit, or other products in parking lots or underground passages, but only in licensed shops and markets.
